While many men were expressing envy towards Jamie Dornan after his role in “Fifty Shades of Grey”, due to the immense popularity the actor enjoyed with the female audience, it quickly became clear that Dornan’s life wasn’t so dreamy and carefree, and his role in the film has actually caused some problems for the actor.
As news about an upcoming sequel were getting hotter and hotter, rumors started going around that Dornan would not be playing in the new production, and has decided to withdraw from the franchise completely. The reason, according to those rumors, was a huge disagreement between him and his wife, who was apparently not that supportive of his acting in “Fifty Shades of Grey” after seeing the first film.
Dornan was quiet on the issue for a while, but he recently came out with a statement reassuring his fans that the above rumors were completely false, and he currently has no plans to withdraw from his role in the sequel. He added that the rumors about his wife disapproving of his role were “total b*****ks”, and there was never any argument between the couple with regards to his performance in the controversial production.
Not only that, but Dornan has apparently already signed on for more than the first film, so he’s contractually obliged to continue contributing to the franchise at this point. If his wife really does disapprove of his role, this would be a serious problem for their family indeed, as it would put him in a legally challenging situation.
The next installment in the franchise – which is currently planned as a trilogy – will be called “Fifty Shades Darker”, and is set to begin production in the beginning of 2016. While Dornan’s role in the film has been pretty much officially confirmed at this point, we’re still not sure about the director, as it’s not certain that Sam Taylor-Johnson will be taking up that responsibility for the second installment.
Dornan’s wife probably doesn’t really have much to complain about anyway, as it was recently reported that Dornan has been enjoying a lot of financial success from his role in the first film, and will likely earn even more if he plays in the second. With that in mind, and considering the fact that it’s just a fictional production with no real-life implications, it’s pretty clear that the smart thing for Jamie Dornan’s wife would be to support her husband and wait for the production to finish so they can enjoy their successful lives. At this point, the popularity of the franchise can only go up, and there are lots of indications that the sequel will be received even better than the original film.
