James Cameron to Give ‘Avatar 2’ and Two Other Sequels a Magnified Sense of Reality

As expected, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will return for all three sequels as ex-marine Jake Sully and Pandora native Neytiri, respectively. The two lead actors have signed on a trilogy even before filming the first sequel. Speaking to Variety, Worthington reveals that the cast is scheduled to start filming next year.

According to Vine Report, even Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang are both confirmed to come back despite their characters’ demise in the first movie. Weaver revealed in an interview a few months ago that she will not be reprising her role exobiologist Dr. Grace Augustine but will be taking on another role.

The film is also expected to pay homage to the late James Horner. Horner has worked with Cameron since “Titanic” to “Avatar,” composing and scoring music for his films. Horner was already doing pre-production work for the three sequels of “Avatar” when he died early this month.
