Jane Bond not a possibility
When Daniel Craig concluded his reign as 007 with “Spectre” last year, rumors of the next Bond being a female also surfaced and it came with mixed reactions.
A lot of actresses have expressed their desire to play Jane Bond, James Bond’s counterpart. Elizabeth Banks has stated that she’s always dreamed of directing a James Bond movie where the lead is a woman.
Actresses Priyanka Chopra and Gillian Anderson are fan favorites in the campaign for a female 007. “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart is the latest actress to call for a female to take over the famous British secret agent role.
Fans of the blockbuster franchise have also called for the studio to cast a female Bond for a change, but “The Day of the Jackal” author Forsyth says that is unlikely to happen.
The 77-year-old spy novelist claims that a Jane Bond does not make sense. He adds that the public is die-stamped in thinking everyone has a female counterpart.
While it may sound politically correct at this time, having a female play the next 007 will simply not be convincing. The spy author adds that the role, who Ian Fleming created in 1953, was penned solely for a male. Forsyth says, sans being sexist, he doesn’t imagine any woman taking over the iconic spy.
Rupert Friend should be considered. Amazing in Homeland.
