James Bond Producer Confirms that Tom Hiddleston is Not Being Considered for the Iconic Role, More Details

He may be known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Loki and Taylor Swift’s new beau, but one thing Tom Hiddleston will not be known for is being Agent 007.

The British actor has been confirmed to be out of the running on becoming the next James Bond. This was confirmed by the Bond producer, Barbara Broccoli.

Speaking to Daily Mail, spy thriller writer Frederick Forsyth said that Barbara is absolutely not going to pick Tom Hiddleston as the new Bond. It’s important to note that Barbara herself has yet to confirm her statement.

Since Daniel Craig left the iconic role for a predecessor after 10 years and four films, Hiddleston has long been rumored to take over his polished shoes and tuxedo.

The 35-year-old was the front-runner in the list of who should be the next James Bond.

There were reports that “Divergent” actor Theo James was tapped to play the next 007, but these rumors were dismissed by Theo and the Bond production team.

No details have been released about the next Bond film, but given that it’s going to be the franchise’s 25th installment, it will be a special and memorable film.

Last May, reports claimed that Tom was already in advanced talks with MGM Studios for the role.

However, several weeks later, it was revealed that the team was favoring Aidan Turner over Hiddleston for the coveted role.

The “Poldark” actor chose to neither accept or deny his chances of bagging the iconic role. Speaking to Belfast Telegraph, he says that he’d rather not speak about it until there are further confirmations coming from higher execs.

Aside from Turner, actors Jack Houston and James Norton are also fan favorites to play the next iconic spy. Another fan favorite to take over Craig’s recent role is Idris Elba.

The “Luther” actor is also making headlines for potentially being the first James Bond of color. Elba has said that he has not discussed anything with the producers but has said that he would turn down the role.

Speaking on “Good Morning America” last month, the “X-Men: Apocalypse” star says that being considered for the role is the wildest rumor he’s heard. He says that he’s too old for the part and that he doesn’t see himself in the role.

He adds, however, that wherever he goes, he hears the people’s clamor for a James Bond of different color and race. If ever, the new James Bond will be from an American-African race then that is because that is the will of the nation.

Speaking on “The Graham Norton Show” a few months ago, Hiddleston said that he believes that the position isn’t vacant. He also cleared up rumors saying that no one has talked to him nor approached him about the matter.

He adds that rumors saying that he was playing the next Bond surfaced because he played a spy in “The Night Manager” and fans made the link. His participation in the limited series earned him a nomination for the Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

The “Crimson Peak” actor has a lot of films in store for him next year. His film “Kong: Skull Island”where he will be playing Captain James Conrad is already in post-production.

He’s also expected to reprise his famous role Loki in the third “Thor” stand-alone film, “Thor: Ragnarok. “Given his slew of projects, it might not hurt Hiddleston if he’s not going to be the next Bond after all.

Fans are upset over the news that the “Thor” actor is not in the running to be the next famous secret agent. Some still hope that the crew will eventually change their mind and cast Tom for the role.
