Sam Mendes has talked a bit about the upcoming new entry into the iconic “James Bond” franchise, and explained why he thinks that this film will be unlike any other in the series so far. “Bond 24”, as its working title was, will focus on Bond more than any other film in the series, and it’s going to give viewers a lot to think about with regards to the main protagonist of the franchise. That would certainly be interesting to see because, even though Bond was already quite well developed as a character in some regards, the writers are barely scratching the surface in other areas.
While talking about the new film, Mendes said that Bond will be on a mission from the very start, and he’ll be faced with the difficult decision of trying to figure out if he should pursue the life that he’s always been after, or if he’s actually meant to be doing something else, something more worthwhile of his time.
Of course, Mendes didn’t want to give any actual spoilers about what this implies for the character, but it’s already a good enough indication that the new “James Bond SPECTRE” should be an amazing experience for true fans of the series, and of the iconic superspy.
In the new film, we’ll see Bond going after a strange message from his past, and following the trails of a mysterious dark organization. While he’s trying to get to the bottom of the mystery, M is doing her best to maintain the agency alive. In the end, what Bond uncovers might be too shocking even for him and M, but that’s part of the job for someone in his position. What is SPECTRE about, and how is the organization tied to the whole plot?
We do have some hints about the purpose of the organization and its structure, but those are too vague to really figure out anything important from them. There will be some serious political undertones in this installment of the “James Bond” series, much more than we’ve seen in any of the previous films, which certainly can’t be a bad thing.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a true “James Bond” film without some serious breathtaking action – and according to what we’ve heard from the producers so far, it will have that in serious quantities. There will be some amazingly crafted action scenes in the new film, including a very special one that Gregg Wilson, associate producer for the movie, was very excited about. So far, the films in the franchise haven’t failed to disappoint in terms of action, so hopefully we’ll see the trend continued.
