The production of “James Bond 24” has run into a few issues recently, the most problematic of which right now is the delay they encountered after being barred from shooting a car chase scene in Rome. Authorities have reportedly just contacted the crew to inform them of their decision, stating that they felt that the scene would be too much of a risk for the town’s beautiful scenery, some of which is quite old and preserved well. While the scene was supposed to be shot in a tightly controlled manner, the town’s authorities apparently didn’t want to take any risk at all in this case.
It’s not known where the scene will be relocated to, and it’s possible that the crew will have to take an alternative approach and simulate it with CGI – something which they’ve reportedly been trying to avoid, but which has been suggested by Italy’s Minister of Culture, Federica Galloni. Galloni was also the one to inform the public of the Italian government’s decision regarding the filming, and it seems that she was one of the main contributors to it as well.
This isn’t the first setback the production has encountered, as the film recently had to be delayed due to bad weather, which prevented the filming of a boat scene in open waters. According to reports, the weather made it too risky to deploy boats, especially in the way the directors were intending to shoot them, so the scene had to be pushed back to a later date. Matters were reportedly made even more complicated by the fact that the crew was already moving towards the location, and Daniel Craig himself was practically ready to start performing when he arrived.
Still, the film’s production is reportedly still going to meet the scheduled release date of October 23, and indeed, the crew has a lot of leeway to work with in case they run into even more delays. Given the nature of the film, it’s possible that they might encounter additional problems down the road, but it seems that they’ve planned ahead for situations like this and are quite prepared to deal with extraordinary circumstances of this kind.
Meanwhile, there has been speculation regarding who’ll be performing the main theme of the film. It’s been rumored that Adele might come back to sing something new for “James Bond 24”, while other rumors are pointing at Rihanna and Sam Smith. It’s not yet known who’ll get to deliver the performance, although many eyes seem to be fixed on Sam Smith at the moment, and he’s the most favored choice for many fans of the franchise.
