British automaker Jaguar Land Rover has launched at the New York International Auto Show its most expensive Range Rover SUV to date. Officially known as the Range Rover SVAutobiography, the vehicle will be retailed from £150,000 and up (or $200,000 and up.)
It will be hitting the automotive retail markets this coming summer and its price can actually double as buyers move up from the entry level price.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography, which is being manufactured at the Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations in Coventry in the West Midlands, England, is making a headstart on the competition as far as pricey SUV is concerned, notes the Birmingham Post.
In fact, many motoring experts believe that Jaguar Land Rover’s hold on selling the most expensive SUV to date will be short-lived as a number of ultra-luxury SUVs are also in the pipeline including those being planned by Lamborghini, Bentley, Maserati, and Rolls Royce.
Extreme strength under the hood
The Land Rover SVAutobiography has power written all over it especially under the hood. It is being powered by a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged gasoline engine that is capable of dishing off maximum strength of 550 horsepower. This is a major improvement from its previous supercharged engine model which has a maximum power output of only 510 horsepower.
The SUV shall also be available with an SDV8 diesel engine as well as an SDV6 diesel hybrid powertrain.
The outward aura of the Range Rover is distinctively all its own but Jaguar Land Rover still managed to make impressive refinements to the Range Rover SVAutobiography.
Among the exterior design enhancements include the two-tone color, with eight colors to choose from to complement the Santorini Black upper body color but customers can still stick to a single hue if they prefer.
The SUV still maintained the Range Rover bonnet lettering but this time, it already comes with the SVAutobiography badging. It still maintained that front grille finished in graphite atlas and polished chrome.
A luxurious interior
As a luxury SUV however, much of the appeal of the Range Rover SVAutobiography, just like its predecessors, is in its interiors. Buyers have two choices for its interiors – the standard length version or the long wheelbase model.
Most of the interior controls are made of aluminum. Rear-seat passengers have access to a beverage chiller compartment and powered deployable tables.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography has the option of a sliding loadspace floor that is made from aluminum and a choice of veneers. There is also plenty of cargo room as there is enough space for stowing in the luggage compartment.
For additional seating, two extra seats, handcrafted from Windsor leather and aluminum, can be quickly deployed on the lower tailgate.
As an SUV however, the Range Rover SVAutobiography is still very capable of being an off-road trekker that it is also known for. The vehicle can certainly get down dirty in the off-road if the situation demands it because it has the strength to easily go through the hurdle.
