Maruti 800 is not a car that one would want to flaunt as a style statement. However, Jagjit Singh will make one rethink about the notion after seeing Singh’s new design. The man has used the humble Maruti 800 and turned it into a convertible. While Maruti 800 has for a long time been the car of India, it had faded out in prominence.
The Maritime 800 was the preferred car of thousands of Indians. After running for decades, the car stopped running when it was chucked out by the MSIL.
That was when Jagjit Singh, an automobile business, decided to try something new. This wouldn’t be the first time that Singh has converted a vehicle. He has been in the trade for over 17 years and more than 170 vehicles that he has reworked on. Most of the vehicles that he has converted are for the differently abled.
Everyone wants to own a convertible, and now Jagjit Singh has made it possible with a car as simple as a Maruti 800. According to InUth, Jagjit Singh worked on the Maruti 800 for three years, and the project cost him quite a fortune. He does have plans to venture into this field but will look for investors before he makes it commercial.
The main reason for the high cost of transformation was a lot of dyes. The opportunity cost of the same was also high. However, if he wants to venture into commercial business with the converted Maruti 800 he needs to get a lot of government clearances.
India has always been a ready market for done up cars, and Jagjit Singh decided to take the plunge. He knew that Indians always like cars that were transformed and Maritime 800 being a favorite of many was a perfect choice.
Keeping this in mind, Jagjit Singh used his JS Design firm to work on the Maruti 800 in New Delhi and transformed it into a convertible. Reports claim that the car doesn’t reveal its roots at first glance. No one will be able to figure out that the car is a Maruti 800 that has been changed.
Jagjit Singh said that youths crave to ride fast cars and convertibles. These cars are visible on the silver screen. While many aspire to possess these cars, they do not have the means to purchase and own the fancy cars.
Even if the buyer wants to buy second-hand convertibles, the price for the same would be close to Rs. 60-70 lakhs, which is still not affordable. This is when JS Design comes into the picture. With his convertible, the buyer can enjoy the feel of a fancy car without stretching pocket.
According to Motoroids, all the design and bodywork of the car is brand new and has been done completely from scratch. A lot of effort has been put in to maintain a high level of class while working on the fit and finish of the different parts.
The design resembles the look of other expensive convertibles but manages to fit the new parts in the same frame of the Maruti 800. The changes are minute but varied and completely transforms the car. The front grille was opened to give the convertible a cleaner look. The replacement of the regular headlights were units from Fiat Palio
The convert gets a new bumper, bonnet, windscreen and new A-pillars. It’s difficult to understand that the redesigned convertible is made from a Maruti 800.
