Jackie Chan is the Fourth Most-Admired Man in the World, More Details

Chinese action superstar Jackie Chan has added a new feather in his cap in his surging global popularity when he was recently named as the fourth most-admired man in the world by British polling firm YouGov, cites the Los Angeles Times.

Jackie Chan came at fourth spot following billionaire and Microsoft chief Bill Gates, US President Barrack Obama, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

While the list is not an official recognition, it nonetheless shows how the Hong Kong-born martial arts actor has become a global icon, amid recent scandals involving his son Jaycee and also a daughter out of wedlock with a former beauty queen.

A top moneymaker

The 61-year-old actor has also made it to the Forbes list of highest-paid celebrities for the period from June 2014 to June 2015 at No. 38, which was topped again by Robert Downey Jr. for the second consecutive year.

Jackie Chan earned $50 million but it was not just from his films during the period of the valuation but also from his myriad of other businesses including designer apparel, eyeglasses, movie theaters, and also Segway scooter dealerships.

The actor has recently published an autobiography in Chinese titled “Never Grow Up, Only Get Older.” Despite appearing in more than 100 films, Jackie Chan and the comedian in him still has not wavered one bit, which has endeared him to his millions of fans around the world. But he is not resting on his laurels, though, continuously working to improve his craft and make people happy.

His last Hollywood live-action hit was “The Karate Kid” shown back in 2010 but he remains popular ever in the US and more in Asia.

Filming in Dubai

Jackie Chan will be shooting his next film titled “Kung Fu Yoga” in Dubai next month. He will star in the movie with Bollywood star Katrina Kaif, notes The National.

The film is the first of a three-movie agreement signed by the Indian and Chinese governments during the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to India last year.

“Kung Fu Yoga” was originally planned to shoot entirely in India, but the production decided to shoot some scenes in Dubai eventually.

With Kaif signed on for the movie, Aamir Khan was rumored to be joining the Chinese/Indian co-production, but scheduling conflicts with his next Bollywood film prevented it. The movie shall be directed by Stanley Tong, who has helmed a number of Jackie Chan films in the past. The Chinese superstar was already talking about filming of the movie as early as May when he said that he can only start shooting in August or September.

Also in May, the Singapore government has also named Jackie Chan as its first anti-drug ambassador.

Over in his home country of China, Jackie Chan is also the anti-drugs ambassador and deputy to the national legislature’s main consultative body.

Speaking before thousands of students at the Nanyang Polytechnic in May, Jackie Chan said that their only choice is to stay away from drugs, citing that they cannot experiment with drugs lest they get hooked on it and eventually become its victims.

Countries in Southeast Asia have been intensifying their respective campaigns against illegal drugs that have been wrecking havoc on thousands of lives of their youths. Most of them have actually initiated high-profile campaigns to stop the trade dead on its tracks.

Jackie has the capability to lecture young ones over illegal drug use as his son Jaycee Chan recently got himself entangled in a legal mess after getting hooked on the habit.
