Someone familiar is returning to Liv’s life. Greg Finley will be returning to “iZombie” Season 3 and will reprise his role as Drake, Liv’s ex-boyfriend.
According to TV Line, Drake will return on the season’s 10th episode. Last we saw of Drake was during the Season 2 finale, when he was killed by Liv in order to save Clive.
The media outlet reports that the particular episode will see Liv eat the brains of a mentally disturbed man being haunted by the wife he killed in a car accident. Liv will then find herself similarly haunted by the ghost of Drake.
TV Line adds that Liv obviously has not gotten past her decision, and it will be more difficult for her to accept what she did after eating the brain of the mentally-disturbed man when her ex-boyfriend returns as part of figments of her imagination.
The episode will reportedly see Liv confronted by the past, which will force her to recall the day she took Drake’s life. It will probably also show some flashback of their relationship.
TV Line speculates that judging by the episode’s description, it looks like Finley will only be back for one episode.
The season will also welcome Jason Dohring who will play Chase Graves, brother-in-law of Filmore Graves CEO Vivian Stoll. Chase will first appear in episode 8 and is highly rumored to be Liv’s potential new love interest.
Natalie Alyn Lind and Andrew Caldwell have also booked recurring roles in The CW hit in the upcoming third season.
Meanwhile, the show’s executive producer has clarified reports surfacing that the upcoming season will be the last of the series.
On his Twitter account, showrunner Rob Thomas said that the rumors are false and the show won’t be ending anytime soon.
Rumors of cancellation spiraled when the show was moved to a midseason premiere and was given six episodes less of its previous episode order.
The CW also reportedly suffered a decline in ratings with the show’s second season that’s why they decided to ax the show after three seasons.
Reports say that transferred shows such as “Reign,””The Originals,” and “iZombie” to their midseason premiere slot is a way for the network to prioritize its DC Comics-adaptation TV series such as “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”
Speculations that the show was being axed were further fueled when Thomas was reportedly tapped to help the network in its plans to create a new series based on “The Lost Boys” comic book, to which the showrunner dismissed.
Thomas has long clarified that the 13-episode order was a request from their end. He said that when the second season was given an extra six episodes last year, they found it difficult to stretch the story based on the original plan and some episodes felt flawed.
Thomas did not, however, deny the fluctuating rating, but went on to joke that what he said was that they are not going to kill Liv’s boyfriend three times in a row in the TV series.
The CW has not yet announced a premiere date for the upcoming season of “iZombie” next year, but production is well underway and the cast have been sharing behind-the-scene photos nonstop especially Rose McIver herself.
One thing to look forward to the upcoming third season is Liv eating a dominatrix’s brain. The third episode of the season will see Ms. Moore eat a dominatrix brain resulting in some drastic effects on herself and her friends.
Photos have already surfaced as to how Liv will look in her dominatrix version. She also will possibly hurt Ravi as McIver once shared a photo on Instagram of her dominatrix character and the medical examiner on the surgery table with cables on his chest.
