Is the Asus ZenFone 2 Worth the Investment? Reviewers Give Mostly Positive Opinions!

Asus recently came out with their brand new flagship, the ZenFone 2, unveiling it at CES 2015. And while initial reactions to the phone weren’t anything spectacular (though still positive as a whole), people still noted the overall attractive package of features and the solid design that the ZenFone 2 seems to have behind it. Plus, it should also not be forgotten that this is an actual 64-bit phone, with its 2.3 GHz Intel Atom processor.

Buyers can get it in two variants with regards to its RAM – a 2 GB and 4 GB model will be offered by Asus, continuing the recent trend of making phones more and more capable in the memory department. Most personal computers nowadays are actually in the 4-8 GB RAM range, so it’s a bit surprising to see smartphones moving so quickly and catching up. Soon, we might actually start seeing 8 GB as a common trend, according to some experts in the industry – and while that sounds like wishful thinking, the actual time might not be that far away.

What’s most surprising about the ZenFone 2 is its price. Asus are aiming at a very small price tag for the powerful device, with a starting price of just $199 for an unlocked, carrier-free phone. This is, of course, for the 2 GB model, but the 4 GB version also won’t be that much more expensive. Currently, Motorola’s Moto G is the only other phone that can come close to that offer in terms of price/features balance, with its $179 price. Still, the ZenFone 2 is way above the Moto G in terms of specifications, so Asus apparently have a clear winner on their hands, as long as they also manage to market the device efficiently.

The physical build of the phone has also been commended for its quality, and some have noted that the device doesn’t look too far off from the HTC One M8 with its overall shape and design, although it does feel lighter and more elegant at a touch, while also having a fantastic display that can easily rival the M8’s.

Are Asus about to make a solid breakthrough in the low-end smartphone market? The device is actually too good to be considered “low-end”, although its price can certainly help it compete with offers in that particular market, putting Asus in a very peculiar position. If the company manages to utilize their resources properly, we could soon see many people sporting brand new ZenFone 2 devices in their hands, and not just buyers who were looking for a cheap phone either. The device has a very solid potential for being interesting to those who want a powerful, solid Android handheld.
