Is the Apple iPod Touch 6G Finally About to Be Unveiled after Christmas

When a device’s existence is based entirely on rumors and the company hasn’t confirmed anything, it’s usually a messy situation to follow. With so much information coming from the left and right, it can be difficult to figure out what’s true and what are obviously false rumors. And, when it comes to Apple’s iPod Touch 6G, the device has gone through a rollercoaster of rumors. First, it was supposedly in development, then it was delayed, then there were rumors that the device isn’t coming out at all as part of Apple’s decision to kill off the iPod line eventually. And now, the newest round of rumors indicate that Apple could be preparing for a post-holiday announcement and launch.

According to the most recent rumors about the device, the reason for its delay is actually a marketing one – Apple are apparently quite satisfied with the current sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and they don’t want to dilute their own market right now by introducing a new iPod Touch – a device that wouldn’t be that far off from the newest iPhone, if Apple continue the trend in its design.

So, for what it’s worth, Apple are waiting for the current sales to calm down before they make their move with the iPod Touch 6G. That would actually make sense, as buyers who already have their hands on a new iPhone may not be that interested in getting a dedicated music player right now, while on the other hand, after the holidays, the market could be more favorable.

As for what the new device is going to offer in terms of specifications, the most prominent rumors point towards an A8 processor and 1 GB of RAM. The device is reportedly going to feature a similar design like the iPhone 6, of course without any mobile network functionality. In addition, Apple are reportedly not planning to mirror the Standard/Plus model package for the iPod Touch 6G, meaning that the device will only be offered in one version, equivalent to the default iPhone 6.

What’s going on behind Apple’s doors? It’s hard to say right now, but if even half of the positive rumors about the iPod Touch 6G are true, then it’s something big. While there was some credibility to the claims that Apple may want to kill off the music player line, there is still plenty of potential in the iPod brand to just ditch it like that. However, it might be true that the iPod Touch will take on a new direction in its design, as Apple may want to diversify their offers compared to the iPhone more.

only device.I would hope they would go with the plus size as that would be a better media device.
