Toyota have pushed the Hilux quite far into the future with the 2015 edition of the truck, as they have invested a lot of resources into upgrading the vehicle in every way possible. And this is definitely getting noticed by reviewers and auto enthusiasts alike – but the big question remains, is the new truck worth getting, or are buyers better off looking at the older versions instead?
The new 2015 Hilux comes in three different versions regarding its engine configuration, with the most basic model being powered by a 2.5 liter diesel engine. Then, we have a 3 liter version, as well as a 4 liter V6 one. It’s worth noting that all engines are customized by Toyota specifically for the new Hilux, and the company has been bragging with some very impressive gas mileage numbers – though it remains to be seen if there’s any truth to those claims, or if that’s just standard marketing hype.
In addition, the visual design of the new Hilux has received an overhaul, and the company is actually moving in a very different direction with the 2015 model. It seems that Toyota want to establish a more stable presence on the American market, and they’ve realized that their old design style isn’t quite going to cut it for the typical American taste, so the 2015 Hilux comes with a very noticeable visual revision. The model looks more “Westernized” than its predecessors, and it’s clear that Toyota know how to make a good impression on the American market, although of course this isn’t a guarantee that the truck will actually perform well commercially when it’s released.
Pre-release opinions are already very positive coming from most car enthusiasts around that part of the globe though, so it’s looking like Toyota could definitely see some success once the new model is out. The truck looks more powerful on the outside, matching the increased power under the hood, and American buyers should appreciate the “muscle truck” appearance that Toyota have so successfully implemented.
Last but not least, there will be a significant increase in the use of gadgets in the new truck as well, as Toyota have been trying to make their new models more attractive for tech-savvy users. All sorts of additional electronic aids will be added to the design of the truck, while some luxury electronics will also find their way to the interior in order to make the model an even more attractive offer for customers looking to spend a little more money. It’s not clear if those features will be forced on all models or if they will be offered as optional upgrades, and there has been no indication from Toyota in this regard so far.
