A lot is being rumored about the fifth season of “Suits”, and even though some of the rumors contradict each other and it’s overall difficult to make out the legitimate-sounding ones from the rest, one thing is clear – the producers of the show have a lot planned for its upcoming episodes, and they’re really putting a lot of effort into creating a story full of complicated twists and turns.
At the end of season 4, the show’s fans were left with a dramatic cliffhanger, after Harvey confessed that he’s in love with Donna after helping ensure that she doesn’t go to prison. Afterwards, Donna left her job in order to work under Louis, much to the disappointment of the show’s fans. Obviously, the producers aren’t just going to leave the story at that though, and the way the relationship between Donna and Harvey is going to progress is likely going to be one of the main points of the new season.
And indeed, Aaron Korsh, executive producer on the show, has stated in an interview that the show is going to explore that relationship very deeply in season 5, particularly with regards to the fallout from Donna’s decision to go work for Louis. However, he also noted that the story of the series doesn’t just revolve around Harvey and Donna, but there are rather six main characters that are all tied to each other very closely, so anything that happens between those two is going to reflect on everyone else.
There have also been rumors that Robert Zane is going to be featured more prominently in the new season, although it’s not clear in what light. From what we’ve heard so far, it seems that the producers are planning to bring him back as a negative influence, trying to force himself between Harvey and Donna and attempting to sabotage their relationship.
Whether he’s doing this because he can gain something out of it, or simply for pleasure, it’s not clear yet – but both are equally possible when it comes to a character like Robert Zane, who has been clearly shown to be less than scrupulous over the previous seasons.
We don’t know an exact air date for the new season yet, but it’s expected to come out sometime in the summer. If the previous seasons are any indication, we can probably expect to see season 5 starting around June, as USA Network likes to keep a somewhat consistent schedule for their shows. Most rumors about the release date of the new season seem to point in that direction as well, so it’s looking very likely that “Suits” will resume in June indeed.
