Is Robert Downey Jr. Going to Be Replaced by a 13 Year Old for Iron Man 4? We will See!

Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that he won’t be coming back for the next “Iron Man”, and this immediately started a huge wave of speculation around messaging boards for film fans. Everyone wanted to know the answer to the one big question – who will take Downey’s place in the new film? At one point, certain rumors started spreading, alleging that the new actor will be quite younger than Downey himself, and some were claiming that he’ll be in his 20s or 30s.

However, even more recent rumors claim that even these numbers are off – the new actor is supposedly Ty Simpkins, who portrayed Harley Keener in “Iron Man 3”, and is also playing in “Jurassic World”. The rumors could possibly have some plausibility to them, as there are definitely some similarities between the appearance of Tony Stark and that of the boy – although it hasn’t been confirmed that Simpkins is indeed the replacement for Robert Downey Jr. in the new film.

A recent interview with Ty Simpkins saw him revealing certain facts which seemed to confirm some of the rumors currently circulating about the upcoming film. He said that he acknowledged the similarities between his character and that of Robert Downey Jr., and he also said that he saw it as a possibility that he would replace the Iron Man himself, a question which the interviewers were quick to drop, given that it’s the one thing fans would like to see answered most right now.

However, in the same interview, he also stated that if this were to happen, he would not fill the exact same role like Iron Man did – though it would be something close to that. It’s possible that Harley could even build his own suit for this purpose, although, again, this is just speculation and nothing that has been actually confirmed as of yet.

Iron Man 4

In addition, Ty Simpkins stated that he sees these developments as a possibility for “The Avengers 2”, not just “Iron Man 4” – so it’s not clear if his role as Iron Man’s successor will be in “Iron Man 4” after all. Rumors about “The Avengers 2” haven’t been as prominent as those about the new “Iron Man” film, so it’s hard to say what the studio has planned for the future of both franchises, but one thing is certain – after the removal of Robert Downey Jr. from the cast of “Iron Man 4”, there will be significant changes to the formula of the film, and the new installment could end up being a huge hit or a major disaster in the eyes of the most avid fans.
