The production of the “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” has been going through some interesting stages, as the direction for the new film seemed rather vague and unclear for a long while. A lot of this was revealed during the notorious hack on Sony which saw the leaking of numerous e-mails from company employees and even high-ranking executives. According to some of the e-mails that were made public, there’s a strong possibility for a deal between Sony and Marvel still, despite the fact that the Wall Street Journal previously claimed that this idea had been scrapped.
Other details about the potential deal between the two studios include a potential 25% share for Sony if Spider-Man appears in “Captain America: Civil War”. On the other hand, Marvel will subsequently have to cover 25% of the budget for the next dedicated Spider-Man film, and they are also going to lend Sony two of their own characters. Not only that, but there might be some overlap with the actual universe of Marvel’s productions, as it’s been alleged that fans will also see some plot details carry over to the new Spider-Man film.
There are many other levels to this negotiation as well, such as details about the wardrobe, script and other elements of the production which Sony have requested assistance with. In addition, it’s not known who will replace Andrew Garfield in the reboot yet, but it’s been stated that the new actor will have to sign on for at least three films. It’s obvious that there’s a lot of pressure on the casters to make a good choice here, so it’ll be curious to see who ends up in the role.
Commenters have been pointing out that the deal is actually quite lucrative for Sony, even though it doesn’t give that initial appearance. A delay in the production would benefit them even more, according to how the deal is structured, as they would be able to back out of the contract and receive a $100 million compensation as well.
So far, one detail remains vague – which is the next Spider-Man film exactly? According to reports, it’s supposed to hit the screens in July 2017, but this doesn’t match the scheduled release date for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” which is currently planned for 2018. In addition, it should be noted that the deal between Sony and Marvel isn’t even final, and it might not go through in the end – in which case, it’s possible that Spider-Man will be played by Andrew Garfield yet again, although this is just speculation at this point, until an official confirmation has been given.
