Disney have been quite active in their productions lately, both officially as well as on the rumored front. “Frozen” has finally come out of the shadows with a sequel, there have also been indications about a sequel to “Big Hero 6”, and last but not least, we’ve got “Toy Story 4” in the works. “The Incredibles 2” is coming along nicely as well, according to rumors from the set that occasionally make their way to the Internet, and lately we’ve been hearing some interesting things about the possible plot developments in the new film.
It’s been known for a while that “The Incredibles 2” is going to do something interesting with its story, as Brad Bird, director of the film, previously said that the sequel must be very strong on the narrative side in order to be successful. Various ideas for the plot’s progression have been discussed in the past as well, although back then it wasn’t clarified which of those ideas are going to make it in the final edition of the film.
The latest rumors about the plot of “The Incredibles 2” claimed that the new film will see Mr. and Mrs. Incredible leaving their superhero life behind, and in a way trying to “retire” to a more normal family life. They will be devoting their full attention to their son Jack-Jack, who, in the new film, will be six years old. That would put the new film’s story five years in the future after the first one, so it will be interesting to see how the rest of the fictional world has evolved.
However, if the rumors are true, things will definitely not be smooth for the family, as Jack-Jack will find himself under the wrong influence. He will soon become a very rebellious child, unable to control his superpowers and he will keep changing his shapes unless he goes into a state of rage. And while this might sound very bad for the family – and it is – it will be the perfect opportunity for a villain to decide to take Jack-Jack under his wing and turn him into his own follower.
That would be an interesting plot twist indeed, and it could pit our favorite characters against an unexpected challenge. It would also fall in line with the claims of the film’s director that we remember from earlier, and if those rumors are true, then the writers behind “The Incredibles 2” have definitely spent some time thinking about how they can impress and shock their audience the most. Hopefully the film will be worth the wait once it’s ready to be shown to the public, but so far we have all the reasons to believe that it will.
