Robert Downey Jr. admitted to the existence of Iron Man 4’s production and development with a possible release in the near future, according to an article in The Fashion Times. However, recently he made an appearance in ‘The Late Night Show with David Letterman’ on October 7th. According to E! News, Downey reportedly took his word back during this guest appearance. He told Letterman that there are no plans for the upcoming Iron Man 4. He further added that the question could be raised as to why not.
Have the producers made a lot of money? He guessed that to be rather true, ‘or something’. He further stated that currently there is no script for an Iron Man 4 movie. He said that the Marvel could have a plan up their sleeve and will probably announce it. He also considered the extreme secrecy maintained by Marvel.
He indicated that there will be other stuff, just between Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. but from the looks of it, no more standalone Iron Man movie. He will be well involved with Marvel and will also have plenty of fun with whatever it is that he ends up doing. The actor was further quoted to deny any alleged sequel to the highly popular mega-blockbuster movie, Iron Man 3 as stated by The Epoch Times.
At the same time, there are many reports, which suggest that Robert Downey Jr. will remain the world’s popular iron superhero. He is rumored to have revealed that on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Only time will reveal if a sequel to Iron Man 3 is indeed in the works. In the meantime, Robert Downey Jr. is busy promoting an upcoming movie that he is definitely sure to appear in: Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.
There are many fans around the world who are speculating that an upcoming Avengers movie is a definite sign that we might experience an Iron Man sequel as well. However, Downey along with all the other cast members for Avengers is presently silent regarding any such possibility.
Meanwhile, Marvel announced that Robert Downey Jr. WILL be reprising his role Tony Stark or Iron Man in the upcoming sequel. However, that sequel is not Iron Man 4 but something totally different. Robert Downey Jr. will be joining Chris Evans in Marvel’s 2016 Captain America 3: Civil War.
In this movie, new cast member Chadwick Boseman will play the role of Black Panther. It also seems like Marvel will continue with the Iron Man franchise, with or without the involvement and participation of Robert Downey Jr. A shocking casting update recently revealed that Ty Simpkins, who played the role of Stark’s sidekick in Iron Man 3, will end up taking over the franchise in 2019.
