The superhero versus villain plot has become so overused in the superhero movies that the main storyline have been shaken up to pit superhero versus another superhero next time around.
That will be the case with the upcoming Warner Bros movie based on DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” pitting the Caped Crusader against the Man of Steel.
The Marvel cinematic universe certainly does not want to be left behind on the idea and thus will be doing the same with “Captain America: Civil War” that will feature the fight between Captain America and Iron Man.
Speculations in the DC movie abound that by some twist of fate, Batman will defeat Superman during their encounter before they patch things up and form the Justice League.
However, that cannot be said yet for the battle between Captain America and Iron Man in “Civil War.” While it would seem that Iron Man would enjoy the clear advantage, it should be noted that the film is a Captain America movie and his position on the Superhero Registration Act, which he and Tony Stark are fighting about, is more of being the protagonist rather than the antagonist.
Moviepilot actually made a comparison for the duel between Captain America and Iron Man in terms of combat skills, tech and weaponry, intellect and experience, and will, and the outlet predicted that the battle will end up in a tie.
Of course, every Marvel fan knows that both superheroes will eventually settle their differences and become part of the united Avengers again, but it is really interesting to see them fight first and then agree to patch things up and fight a common enemy or villain.
Unlike in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” where the battle will be just between Batman and Superman, the battle lines in “Captain America: Civil War” will be superhero-studded as both fighters will have their own superhero supporters as well. It would really be interesting to see in the movie how the other Marvel superheroes go up against each other before finally coming to their senses that they are both for the common good of the people they are protecting.
Whatever the result of the battle between Captain America and Iron Man in Civil War, the upcoming “Iron Man 4” movie will definitely benefit from it as it would most likely show the softer, more mellowed, or more matured Tony Stark in it.
Instead of being the rich, brass and know-it-all intellect Tony Stark on the Iron Man suit, it will be a changed man come “Iron Man 4” and most likely in the two-part third Avengers movie officially titled “Avengers: Infinity War.”
Iron Man hits the jackpot
While nothing is concrete about “Iron Man 4” except the fact that it is really going to happen on the phase 3 of the Marvel cinematic universe which is around 2019 onwards, the screenplay writers of the movie could pick up an interesting plot on an upcoming comic book on Iron Man.
The “Invincible Iron Man” comic book from Marvel that will come out beginning in October will feature Tony Stark being joined by Mary Jane Watson, who is known to Spider-Man fans as the girlfriend of the web-slinging superhero.
Brian Bendis wrote the upcoming comic book and he integrated Marvel’s most famous redhead into the world of Iron Man.
According to Bendis, they were having the Marvel publishing retreats when the idea of MJ Watson accidentally got thrown into the mix of the discussion. That’s when the thought of the character getting intertwined to Tony Stark become very palatable.
