‘Iron Man 4’ May Already Feature Riri Williams In Lieu of Tony Stark Donning the Iron Suit, New Rumors Say!

The rumors are getting out of hand as of late regarding the possible plotline or cast of characters of the speculated “Iron Man 4.”

The problem with speculation is that they also breed more speculations so everything else beginning from the source of the rumors have yet to be confirmed.

Marvel Studios has yet to confirm if it will push through with a fourth “Iron Man” movie or not but since the production company has set three mystery movies for 2020, “Iron Man 4” has been presumed to be one of them.

Over the past couple of months, the rumors were saying that Natasha Romanoff, also known as the Black Widow, and played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by actress Scarlett Johansson, shall become the female Iron Man in “Iron Man 4” since in the comic books, Tony Stark created for her an iron suit when they momentarily dated.

The speculations were rife in saying that she will take over the iron suit because Tony Stark will meet his demise in “Avengers: Infinity War.”

An early demise for Tony Stark

Of late, however, the rumors are saying that Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU, shall indeed die but not in the two-part “Avengers: Infinity War” but in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” due to hit theaters in July next year, notes the Ecumenical News.

Logic would dictate that these new round of rumors are not only absurd but also improbable. Tony Stark and Iron Man are regular fixtures of “Avengers” movies and if Tony Stark dies in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” then he will no longer show up in the two-part third and final “Avengers” movie.

That would be a big no-no for Marvel Studios, especially from a business standpoint. While “Avengers’ movies are a collection of the Marvel superheroes, there is no doubt that it is Robert Downey Jr., as Tony Stark/Iron Man, is the face of the franchise.

It is precisely the reason why he is being paid top money by Marvel Studios because he is the franchise’s biggest draw despite the presence of other popular and good-looking stars like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johannson, and more.

As a matter of fact, Robert Downey Jr. was paid more money than Chris Evans in the movie “Captain America: Civil War” despite the fact that it was an Evans-starrer, first and foremost.

So the rumors about the early demise of Tony Stark is way off the charts and should really be taken with a fine grain of salt.

A new character taking on the iron suit

There are new reports going around that Tony Stark will indeed retire from playing as Iron Man especially in light of the latest issues of the Iron Man comic books.

In the comic books, the character Riri Williams will be taking over the Iron Man suit from Tony Stark although the former character has yet to be introduced in the MCU.

However, in “Captain America: Civil War,” Tony Stark expressed his desire during a presentation at the M.I.T. that he is looking for a young scholar that would continue his work.

The comic books built on that scene and introduced Riri Williams. However, it is not an assurance that the movie shall also take the same path.

As far as fans and critics of the “Iron Man” franchise are concerned, they still believe that Robert Downey Jr. is destined to become Iron Man as there is no better actor to portray the role of the genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist Tony Stark, cites Game & Guide.

Iron Man 4

But the biggest hurdle for the actor to take on the role of Tony Stark and Iron Man for “Iron Man 4” is his ripe age. Others are actually saying that he might already be too old to play a superhero by then.

The complication was further heightened when Robert Downey Jr. took to Twitter recently to show his support for the character of Riri Williams to replace him as the next Iron Man and take the lead in “Iron Man 4.”

Marvel Studios has taken part in the recently-held San Diego ComicCon. However, the entertainment company only talked about four of its upcoming movies including “Doctor Strange,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” and the “Black Panther.”

Many fans were actually expecting that Marvel will also speak about “Iron Man 4” but nothing of that sort happened. Some of them were even disappointed that Robert Downey Jr. who plays Tony Stark and Iron Man in Marvel movies also was a no-show at the event.

As expected, the absence of “Iron Man 4” announcement or representation at the San Diego ComicCon led to speculation that the movie might not happen at all.

In fact, there are rumors now going around saying that Iron Man might meet his demise in the upcoming two-part third Avengers movie entitled “Avengers: Infinity War.”

It’s really a depressing spoiler for Marvel fans but since the production company has yet to make any announcement or confirmation about it, it is best to take the report with a pinch of salt.

However, assuming that Tony Stark and Iron Man dies in “Avengers: Infinity War,” then it follows that there will be no more “Iron Man 4” to follow unless Marvel Studios decides to recast the role and start on a clean slate.
