“Iron Man 3,” the third and last Iron Man movie in the franchise, is in the list of the top five grossing films of all time with its $1.2 billion worldwide box office haul in 2013.
Its gigantic box office success earned for the film a ticket to the prestigious The Billion Dollar Club, for movies that obviously grossed $1 billion or more in the box office.
Marvel Studios would be lying if it said that it has not been thinking of doing a fourth Iron Man movie since the smashing success of “Iron Man 3.” Though no official word has came out from the production company.
Even Robert Downey Jr, who has been playing the lead role of Tony Stark and Iron Man in the first three films cannot confirm nor deny whether there will be a fourth Iron Man movie or not.
Although the actor will still be appearing as Tony Stark and Iron Man in a number of upcoming Marvel movies including “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Captain America: Civil War.”
While a fourth installment to “Iron Man” is likely because it is one of the highest grossing franchises of all time, Downey has been very calculating with his answers since September 2014 every time he is asked whether there will be an “Iron Man 4” or not.
Harley Keener as Iron Man
Apparently, Downey has his reasons for answering that way as rumors on “Iron Man 4” as of mid-December 2014 indicate that Marvel is looking for a younger actor to play Tony Stark and Iron Man. Speculations also have it that 13-year-old actor Ty Simpkins, who played Harley Skeener in “Iron Man 3,” will be taking on the role of Tony Stark.
The reports that Marvel may be looking for young actor to play Iron Man may be true but the other element in it saying a young actor will play Tony Stark is just not possible. The time element does not make sense.
A recent report of Christian Today sort of cleared things up when it mentioned that it is possible that Harley Skeener would don the suit of Iron Man after Tony Stark hangs it up. Now, there’s a good “Iron Man 4” plot to build on. Harley will then just continue Stark’s legacy as Iron Man.
Actually, even Ty Simpkins, during his December interview sort of explained such scenario when he said that should things really worked out, he would not be playing the exact same role of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark for the past three Iron Man movies but someone who is close to the role.
Given his role in “Iron Man 3,” Harley Skeener would really be the next best bet for the suit after Tony Stark.
Regardless of his size, he can fit to the suit anyway and can operate all the techno-trimmings and powers of Iron Man from the inside.
