There’s been a lot of speculation around “Iron Man 4” and the involvement of actor Robert Downey Jr. with the film. Previously, it was reported that issues with the actor’s salary led to his decision to skip this installment, but we’ve recently seen some other rumors on the horizon.
According to the recent statements, the actor’s busy schedule was actually the reason for him to drop the production. He had other priorities on his list at the moment, and couldn’t devote the necessary time to take part in “Iron Man 4”. However, these claims have generated some interesting discussions among the community.
For example, it’s interesting to consider the definition of a “busy schedule” – would he have been able to make some time if he was offered a better deal? Or was there something else on the table besides money preventing him from joining “Iron Man 4”?
In any case, Marvel don’t seem to care too much, as they have been moving on with the franchise, and it looks like the next installment is going to happen with or without the involvement of Robert Downey Jr. The film is rumored to be coming out in 2020 at the moment, and while that’s a pretty bold prediction to make given the time period, the studio’s schedule seems to hint towards that as a possibility.
What will Robert Downey Jr. do if he doesn’t play in “Iron Man 4” though? The actor certainly has a high enough profile that he can make his way onto many interesting production sets, and his fans seem quite curious to find out what’s managed to grab his attention so strongly at the moment.
“Sherlock Holmes 3” might be the main culprit, as the production apparently has a heavy schedule that would prevent the actor from performing anywhere else. Details are still a bit sketchy and hard to confirm, so fans should stay tuned for more information over the next few months.
Those who are disappointed that we’re not going to be seeing Robert Downey Jr. in his iconic role as the Iron Man should remember that the actor still has at least two appearances as the character planned for upcoming releases. “Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 2” are still going to feature him, and those films aren’t going anywhere.
And even though fans will have to wait some time before they get to see them, they will still come out sooner than “Iron Man 4” anyway, so that’s a moot point. Perhaps the actor might change his mind depending on the reception for his next film, and if he sees that enough people are still paying attention to his role as Iron Man, this could make him reconsider continuing his work on the franchise in the future.
Of course, we don’t know what Marvel’s plans in this regard are, and whether or not the studio will still want to do anything with “Iron Man” at that point. We’ll just have to wait and see how things develop over the next few years.
It’s been an exciting period for fans of Marvel’s superheroes in any case, and even though some have been a bit critical towards the way the studio has handled their major move to the big screen, the community overall seems pleased. Hopefully Marvel are going to retain that status quo in the future as well, as they have a very important legacy with those films.
