There is going to be very little argument that the Iron Man franchise is one of the highest earning and most popular of all time. With that being said, most of the world saw the first three and with each of them there was no doubt that another was on the way. After the third film, however, that talk was a little different and even Robert Downey, Jr. had a few things to say about the possibility of Iron Man 4.
One of the things that he said was that he would not be in the fourth film, should there even be one. Of course, the rumors were flying around that Iron Man 4 was already filmed and ready to go, but that did not seem to be the case as Downey, Jr talked about not being on contract for a fourth movie. Fans were wondering what type of film there would be if he was not the main character.
As with many movies today that come with more than three movies in a series, Iron Man 4 could come down to going back in time. Back in time would show how Robert Downey, Jr. was as a child and that is exactly what one source is reporting. Marvel fans from all over the world are hoping to see an Iron Man 4 and that is likely to happen, just without the main character as we all know him.
This week, there is good news floating around the internet that Downey, Jr. would consider a role in Iron Man 4 if the studio was to hand over a nice sized raise. That confirms that he was not slated for anything after the third movie, but also shows you that Downey, Jr. knows exactly what he is worth to the franchise. Robert Downey, Jr. is clearly the most popular Marvel action here and quite easily the highest paid making $75 million for 2013 and 2014, plus another $80 million for his role in the latest Avengers movie, “Age of Ultron”.
The increase that he is asking for might seem large to normal folks, but at $50 million, that could be small potatoes provided that Iron Man 4 is just as successful as the others. The rumor that is going around about the child replacing him in the next movie were started when he appeared in the third film. Ty Simpkins is the boys name and he is 13-years old. His role in Iron Man 3 brought home the Best Performance by a Younger Actor prize at the Saturn Awards. So much of the successes that came with Iron Man were placed on Robert Downey, Jr alone that there is concern that Simpkins will have the same audience draw.
