Iran beats Japan 3-0 at Volleyball Grand Champions Cup

Iran’s national volleyball team defeated its Asian rival Japan 3-2 at 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Grand Champions Cup on Sunday.

The 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Grand Champions Cup features a total of six teams, with the host Japan joined by the continental winners The Islamic Republic of Iran, Russia, The United States of America, Brazil and Italy.

The Iranian team defeated host Japan at 25-17, 25-18, 25-14 respectively.

This was the 8th confrontation between the two teams after Asian Cup 2010 in China where Iran won the championship.

The Iranian national team scored seven points in the tournament and ranked fourth and was awarded a dlrs 70,000.

Iran had already defeated Italy as one of the world class team.

The rankings are as follows:

1. Brazil :12

2. Russia :11

3. Italy : 9

4. Iran : 7

5. US : 6

6. Japan : 0

The 2013 round of the games kicked off in Japan on November 19 and wound up on November 24.
