And of course, the device is simply a great media player, according to many, but this should hardly come as a surprise to anyone. The iPod line has always dominated this part of the market, and even though Apple have occasionally made some controversial decisions with these devices, they’re still going strong.
The future of the iPod is still not clear, however – we don’t know if Apple are planning to continue the line after this installment or if this really is going to be the last iPod, not just in the Touch brand but in general.
The main argument in this direction is that the iPhone and iPad have started to take over Apple’s list of priorities, and the company is more focused on those devices at the moment. At the same time, they are starting to overlap with the iPod’s features in many ways.
So in a way, the iPod is slowly but steadily becoming obsolete, while the iPhone is gaining more ground. And yet, as we can see in the various reviews about the new iPod Touch 6, plenty of people still see a reason to invest in a separate music player as long as it’s done in a high quality and it offers a good feature set, so it might be a smart move by Apple to continue the line.
