Infusing Realism on ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ May Spell Rockstar’s Undoing

It’s obvious, GTA gamers and fans still can’t get over the release of the heists DLC on March 10 that their attention towards the next installment of the video game franchise has waned somehow.

Before the release of the “Grand Theft Auto V Online” heists, many were already speculating on what developer Rockstar Games would be bringing forth to the table with “Grand Theft Auto 6” in terms of location, new characters, new gameplay, new weapons, new vehicles, new missions, among other things.

But that excitement has clearly been overshadowed by what GTA gamers and fans got upon the release of the heists DLC that they actually forgot that they’ve waited all of 523 days for it before it finally came to the next gen gaming consoles.

Majority of the fans believe that the wait was worth it, even branding the heists DLC as the best piece of DLC ever released on a video game, with some citing that it only added to the greatness and near-legend status of “Grand Theft Auto” game series.

Realism on location

As early as last year, there were reports that Rockstar would continue to have either Blaine County or Los Santos in San Andreas, prominently featured in “GTA 5” as the likely locations for “GTA 6.” Eventually, Liberty and Vice City, which were key locations in earlier versions of the open-world action-adventure game, were thrown into the mix.

Late last year, Portland, Oregon made it to the rumor mill as the next likely location for “GTA 6.” Shortly thereafter, Chicago was also brought forth, notes Venture Capital Post.

Lately, it was London’s turn to make it to the rumor mill as far as location for “GTA 6” is concerned. Speculations about London being the setting of the next installment to the video game franchise grew louder when Dan Houser, Rockstar creative vice president revealed that the GTA’s current DNA is more focused on being American-ish and English-speaking-ish.

He however pulled back on his pronouncement when he added that those facts do not necessarily mean that Rockstar is limiting its choices on those countries. He said that those were what they have done thus far.

It is obvious from the rumors that the developer wants to add a tinge of realism on the location of the next installment of the “GTA” franchise.

Realism on gameplay

In addition to possible real life location, Rockstar is reportedly planning to infuse a bit or realism to the gameplay of “GTA 6” too to offer another level of excitement to fans and gamers of the franchise.

However, the supposed plan is being met by criticisms from some avid gamers that Rockstar doing so may actually be its undoing.

Gamers are actually advising the developer not to make drastic changes into the next installment of “GTA” as the game already looks good as it is. They claim that it is not advisable to fix something that is not even broken.

That’s in addition to the fact that the video game itself carries with it its signature wacky fun, unorthodox characters, weapons, and vehicles, and amazing and nearly impossible gameplay scenarios.
