Idina Menzel, an American actress and singer-songwriter, who shot to immense fame because of the song “Let It Go” from the very successful Disney animated film “Frozen” gave John Travolta a dose of his own medicine at The Academy Awards held on February 22.
It can be recalled that the “Grease” actor introduced Idina Menzel at last year’s Oscars as Adele Dazeem. She actually did not take offense for the honest mistake, at least publicly. But it seems that the “Enchanted” actress was just waiting for the right moment to get even.
The opportunity came exactly one year later and what a way for it to come and correct the wrong pronunciation of John Travolta of her name, cites Yahoo! Celebrity.
When Idina was given the task of introducing her co-presentor for the Best Original Song award, she told everyone to welcome on stage her dear friend, Glom Gazingo, much to the delight and laughter of the crowd.
Funny Travolta moment
Idina’s witty introduction gave John Travolta his back-to-back funny moments at the Oscars for 2014 and this year.
Travolta came to the stage and said that he deserved that, referring to how Idina returned the favor to his infamous goof up in last year’s Oscars. He also said to Idina that she being a darling, a beautiful and wickedly talented Idina Menzel and asked her if he finally got her name right.
Then Travolta cupped her chin with his hand that had the “Let It Go” singer feeling wickedly uncomfortable.
Judi James, body language expert and author of “The Body Language Bible” described Travolta’s body language with Menzel as bizarre as the actor seems to persist in his funny moment despite her showing signs that he should stop, notes The Independent.
The expert said that John’s chin-grasp suggests that he is determined to hold Idina in a pose that he has in his mind complete with eye contact and romantic-looking smiles.
But Menzel pulled away from what Travolta wanted to do, which suggested a polite way of saying no rather than breaking away to clap which would suggest that she wants the audience to help her out of the predicament, explains James.
Gracious even if uncomfortable
Despite being uncomfortable with the body movements of John Travolta on the stage, Idina Menzel still managed to look gracious and sport.
She said to John that he finally got her name right and punctuated it with a Yay! Even so, she looked really uncomfortable as to where Travolta put her with the chin-grasp.
Idina then said that John’s wrong pronunciation of her name was not gonna follow her for the rest of her life or anything that somehow hinted that she was just trying to be funny and not really planning to offend the veteran Hollywood actor.
