Information about “Frozen 2” remains very thin and not overly satisfying for most fans of the first film who’ve been waiting for an official announcement for the sequel, and the closest fans got to an official revelation was a hint by actress Idina Menzel, who recently stated that Disney are already working on the film, although she couldn’t give any specific details on her involvement. The revelation was seen as strange by many, as Disney themselves haven’t announced anything about a potential sequel yet. Now, Idina Menzel has made an appearance on “The View”, where she talked about the recent rumors in a bit more detail.
What she went on to say might not be the kind of news fans were hoping for, however – according to the actress, she rushed her previous statement a bit, and later regretted making it when she saw how excited fans became over what she said. And, according to her most recent revelation, she’s not actually sure whether Disney are working on a sequel for “Frozen” at the moment.
It would appear that her previous claim was more of an assumption, and not based on anything she actually knows about the production behind the scenes. It would appear that at this point, Idina Menzel knows just about as much about “Frozen 2” as most fans, although she seems to be just as eager to learn any new details as most others are right now.
If the new production is indeed in the works, it will likely be a while before Disney make an official announcement about it. The studio seems to have a lot on their plate right now, and it would be more realistic to expect them to want to wrap up their current projects first, before jumping on “Frozen 2” and pushing that one forward.
Plus, if the film’s production does pick up and get into the actual “core” stages, they would likely call for Idina Menzel to perform, so she would have known more about the film already, if it was in an advanced stage of production. Of course, there’s always the possibility that this is exactly what’s going on, and the actress is just being secretive on purpose to avoid spoiling Disney’s revelation, although looking at the timeline, the possibility that the film is still in very early stages of production is far more likely.
Whether or not Disney are actually going to make a “Frozen 2” is not really being questioned by most fans at this point, however, as the success of the first film is an obvious motivation to make a sequel, and it seems that Disney have a lot to gain from doing that.
