Hugh Jackman Says that Wolverine Could Do a Spider-Man and Join the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Australian actor Hugh Jackman, who has been identified with his role of Wolverine in past “X-Men” movies, is optimistic that there is a possibility that the mutant character who has steel claws and has self-healing power could do what Spider-Man did recently and join the Marvel cinematic universe.

In a recent interview, Hugh Jackman said that he thinks as an optimist so if Marvel and 20th Century Fox decide to sit down together sometime in the future and open the possibility of Wolverine and the X-Men joining the Marvel cinematic universe, then the possibility is very high.

He admitted that he was actually surprised that Spider-Man will be finally joining the Marvel bunch after Sony and Marvel forged a deal last month so now it would no longer surprise anybody if Wolverine and the X-Men followed suit, notes the Flickering Myth.

Two years ago he said that he would be a real optimist if he would have thought that Wolverine and the X-Men can join the Marvel cinematic universe. But after what happened with Spider-Man, it is no longer the case since there is already that real possibility that it can happen.

Jackman said that the best thing about comic books is that characters can be pitch into each other. When that happens, there results endless plot and screenplay possibilities to make not just one movie but maybe two or more.

But the “Chappie” star was also realistic enough to say that it might be difficult to make it happen because the movies is a complex world where large sums of money are being spent for different franchises.

Without directly saying it, Jackman was alluding to the fact that money could also mean a hindrance to the possibility of Wolverine and the X-Men from joining the Marvel cinematic universe as much as it can also be the fuel to make it happen.

Remote possibility

While Wolverine and the X-Men do belong to the Marvel Comics as much as the Avengers and the other Marvel superheroes, they have not actually crossed paths in the comics so the possibility of them mixing it up in one movie is a very remote possibility.

Unlike Spider-Man who is really part of the Avengers and the bunch of Marvel superheroes, Wolverine and the X-Men are not. Thus, Marvel was forced to negotiate with Sony to get the rights to Spider-Man.

Marvel may not have the same enthusiasm for Woverine and the X-Men. But as what Hugh Jackman said, anything can happen especially now that people in Hollywood are looking to create something innovative to give viewers something new and groundbreaking.
