According to many experts, part of the problem with the release of the M9 was that the bar was simply set too high after the M8 came out, and HTC realistically couldn’t do much to live up to the hype they themselves had created.
It’s probably true to some extent too – people were definitely expecting a lot from the M9 after its predecessor, and the release of the device was described as slightly disappointing by some fans, which further adds to the suggestion that this was the reason the phone fared so badly with some critics and fans.
Maybe people should take a step back and reevaluate the way they see HTC’s entries on the market and in the One line in particular. If they keep comparing every new device to the old ones, that will surely lead to more disappointment in the future.
Let’s face it – the HTC One M8 was a one-of-a-kind hit that will hardly be repeated again, at least not on purpose. The device was not only very powerful and offered at a good price, it also came at the right time as the market had the perfect conditions for its release. People were quick to jump to the new phone and everyone liked it a lot, but the situation is much more different now.
