When the HTC One M8 came out, it had a major impact on the Android market. Whenever a discussion about powerful Android phones came up, someone would immediately point to the M8 as one of the best devices released, and one of the most powerful Android phones. And for the most part, they were right. The phone went down in history as one of the most feature-rich Android phones, and it was packed full of powerful hardware.
With that in mind, it shouldn’t be surprising that people were expecting a lot from the One M9, and it was supposed to continue this trend and take it further. Unfortunately, now that the device is out and available, people don’t seem to be that excited about what it actually has to offer.
It’s not that it’s a bad phone – not at all, as the HTC One M9 is a relatively good combination of features. The problem, according to most people, is that they were expecting something more from it, and it failed to deliver on those expectations. Some were also drawing comparisons to other devices on the market, such as the latest Samsung Galaxy S6 which apparently feels more modern than the HTC One M9, much to the disappointment of many.
The camera is also not as good as some were expecting, even though it was supposed to be quite the good shooter from the initial previews. It takes pictures with an acceptable quality, but they’re by no means extraordinary, and those looking for a more unique camera experience with their phones will likely have to look elsewhere.
On the other hand, there are definitely some positive features about the HTC One M9, such as the phone’s smooth experience with Android, the solid body design, and the fact that it’s an overall improvement over the M8, even if it’s not the powerhouse phone that people were expecting from it.
The general consensus seems to be that it would have been a great entry into the market, had it been offered at a lower price. As it stands, the cost of the M9 is apparently too much to justify what it brings to the table, and many fans of the company feel let down by their latest offer. Which is definitely a shame, as HTC are a company with strong following and fans who love their work, but they seem to be losing their edge with this release. Hopefully, the company is keeping a close eye on social media and reviews, because if they are, they will quickly learn what they need to do for their next phone if they want to regain their top position on the market.
