The coming months are shaping to be very interesting for gadget lovers, as various companies are gearing up for important releases, including HTC with their One M9, which, according to rumors, the company calls Hima internally. And while many fans of the brand have been excited for the new device, as it was rumored to be a serious step up from previous releases, the latest rumors point in the exact opposite direction.
According to recent alleged leaks, the HTC One M9 is actually not going to be a serious improvement compared to its predecessors, at least not visually – however, the company is still looking at stepping up the hardware components of the device, making it an even more powerful offer than the famous One M8, which currently holds the reputation of one of the Android powerhouses on the market.
If the rumors are true, the HTC One M9 will look more or less the same as the M8, barring some minor differences, but what the device hides under its “hood” will be significantly more impressive. With its 2.0 GHz, 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, high storage capabilities and large camera, it looks like the new One M9 will really shake things up on the Android market.
Above all this, the new One M9 will allegedly have a 5 inch display running in a Full HD resolution, and it will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The camera is a 20.7 megapixel model with a Sony sensor, and it’s rumored to feature some impressive technology for improving the overall image quality. On the other hand, other rumors claim that the camera won’t actually be that good, with a 13 megapixel sensor and pretty standard, run of the mill technology. Still, the rear camera has never been a primary focus in the design of HTC’s One line, so both rumors sound plausible enough.
HTC themselves are, as can be expected, quiet on the issue and it’s not clear what the company is actually planning for the M9. It’s going to be a while until the device hits the market, so even if some of the current rumors are true, the specifications might still change until the final version. Particularly with regards to components like the camera, a lot can happen until HTC decide to put the One M9 on the market. However, the company probably realizes that the One brand has a strong reputation for its powerful capabilities, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to release anything but a serious step up in specifications. There are limits, of course, but with the rumored 2840 mAh battery, it shouldn’t be too difficult to keep the device properly powered.
