As long as this is done with a bit of research and the user is aware of the risks involved, it’s a pretty safe procedure that is used by thousands of people every day to get access to the latest versions of Android, usually with some additional changes that make the operating system even better too.
It’s not rare for custom ROMs to include specialized changes that are meant to optimize the experience even more and tailor it to the needs of various specific devices, and the Android community is generally very active in releasing those updates and keeping everyone happy.
Hopefully people are going to come up with some customized solutions for the newest version of the operating system once it launches over the next few weeks as well. Because it looks like plenty of people want to give Android 6.0 a try right now, and it’s pretty certain that at least some of them will have to wait a little longer than they were originally planning once the new version rolls out and the initial compatibility list is announced.
