While the exact details about the upcoming HTC One M9 remain rather vague, one thing is certain – HTC are going to raise the bar even higher than they did with the M8, and release a device that will be a true powerhouse on the Android market. While there are certainly other smartphones aimed at offering good processing power and serious multimedia capabilities, HTC have so far been on top of that game with the M8. And if the latest rumors about the M9 are true, it’s going to be tough to beat.
Quad-core processors are becoming more and more widespread in mobile devices, and the technology is pretty much the standard solution nowadays. Which is why HTC have decided to take things a step further and are allegedly going to use an 8-core processor in the HTC One M9. This is an unusual decision for a smartphone, and it’s something users would rather expect from a tablet or similar device.
However, anyone should know by now that this line of smartphones doesn’t conform to the standard definitions of the term, and HTC are constantly finding new ways to innovate. A phone with an 8-core CPU could definitely work if it’s designed around the idea, and has good cooling and a strong battery, and it’s definitely not impossible that HTC will pull this off properly.
In addition, the company is improving the device’s multimedia capabilities, with a large-resolution 5.5” screen and 3 GB of RAM which should be more than enough for any Android game, while also running additional multimedia apps in the background. On top of all that, the device will ship with Android 5.0, offering the ultimate smooth Android experience, complete with all the extra features that the latest version of the operating system brought to the table.
HTC are also rumored to be improving the phone’s camera capabilities, which would mean that they have listened to the common criticisms about the M8. While the device’s camera was acceptable, it wasn’t anything special compared to other phones in the same price range, and some users criticized HTC quite harshly because of that.
A lot can happen until the HTC One M9 hits the stores in 2015, especially in a market as rapidly evolving as Android’s. Other companies have also been catching up and have realized the importance of powerful, heavy duty models, and HTC aren’t the only company offering solid, powerful Android devices anymore. Whether the M9 will solidify their position as the leader in this market segment remains to be seen, but the company definitely has the potential to win over many new fans if the M9 is successful.
