HTC have seen a rather uneventful April in terms of sales following the release of the device, and it’s becoming pretty clear that this is a bad launch for them. While people were initially only worried that the phone isn’t going to perform well, now there have been actual concerns about the future of HTC as a company after this launch.
Because people are going to remember this, the market is going to remember this, and the next time HTC announce a major flagship, it’s not going to have the same level of hype around it. With the M9, the company had a very good advantage in that they didn’t have to put a lot of effort into marketing.
Now though, they will definitely need to step up their advertising game when they’re ready to release their next flagship, because people aren’t going to be following them with the same level of interest as they have right now.
