Now that HTC’s One M9 has been on the market for a while and customers have had a chance to build some opinions of the device, most people are positively minded towards it and it looks like the initial skepticism has mostly faded away. The phone was initially met with some negativity as it didn’t quite live up to people’s expectations. Most were hoping for something a little more powerful from the successor of the One M8, but in the end, the device still managed to hold its own ground.
And now, people have started asking about the release of the next major operating system upgrade for the device, as it’s definitely among the Android phones that deserve an Android 6.0 release, given its hardware specifications. There have been some rumors about the upcoming OS release, but not much is known officially, other than the fact that HTC are hard at work on it. It might happen that the new version could arrive on the market sooner than people were anticipating, however, as some recent rumors seem to indicate that very strongly.
There have already been reports of the next major OS version having been leaked for the device, but the situation was a bit sketchy, and of course it was not a solution for users who actually wanted to get Android 6.0 on their M9 phones. Currently, everyone is just waiting for HTC to release some more information about their update schedule, but of course, the company has been mostly quiet on the issue, as is their typical style. The only thing we’ve heard so far is that the update is likely coming by the end of the year, and while that does sound like a good plan, some users have been a bit skeptical of it.
What’s made the situation slightly more aggravating for some fans of the company is the fact that the HTC One M8, the predecessor of the device, already got the update for some of its variants. Admittedly it wasn’t a full-scale release and was only distributed to some users, but the point still stands as the newer edition of the phone was left without an update for the time being.
If Android 6.0 does arrive to the One M9 by the end of this year, it should definitely improve the device’s position on the market. So far, it’s been in a bit of a limbo, as even though it’s a solid phone on its own, it still didn’t quite live up to the huge hype that surrounded it due to the fact that it was a successor to the One M8. Having it run the most recent version of Android should definitely help improve people’s perception of the device, especially if HTC make sure to promote this feature as much as possible.
People have been generally very positive towards Android 6.0 since the new operating system arrived, with many claiming that it fixed all that was wrong with Android 5.0 and set the system back on the right track. The last major release of the operating system tried to introduce some new trends in its design, but some of those backfired. The main voices of criticism were aimed at the performance of the OS, something that was supposed to be specifically addressed in that version. Now it looks like Android 6.0 has fixed that problem for the most part and the OS is once again nice and smooth to use.
