The latest flagship smartphone from Taiwanese tech company HTC, the One M9 will be hitting the US market on April 10, following its official launch during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 in Barcelona, Spain early this month.
In order to gain a good foothold of the American smartphone market which is obviously being dominated by Apple and Samsung, HTC has come up with a free phone replacement service that comes with buying the company’s latest flagship smartphone.
HTC One M9 comes with the so-called HTC UH OH Protection which is basically an insurance cover for the new owners of HTC’s flagship smartphone in the US for full 12 months should their handsets suffer cracked screens and water damage, notes Focus Taiwan.
One-year protection
In a statement released on March 18, HTC explained that its UH OH Protection will entitle American owners of HTC One M9 a free phone replacement within 12 months from the time of their purchase in the event that their handsets accidentally fall onto the pavement or into a toilet.
For HTC One M9 owners who prefer not to take advantage of the HTC UH OH Protection for the first 12 months from the purchase of their handsets have the option to receive $100 in discount for the purchase of a brand new HTC One smartphone.
HTC also clarifies that the UH OH Protection for its flagship smartphone does not come with any extra amount on the retail price of the HTC One M9 when it goes on sale in the US market next month. It will be an add-on value for choosing an HTC smartphone instead of other brands.
Making the best phone stay that way
Jason McKenzie, president of HTC Americas, says that HTC is not just content on creating an award-winning smartphone and amazing user experience. He adds that the company has also created an innovative new program to ensure that the best phone in the market stays the way it is.
The HTC official said that the company wants owners and users of their new HTC One M9 smartphone to feel confident for using the device as well as to have their piece of mind owning one because HTC is ready to provide them a free phone replacement if something unfortunate happens to their handsets.
In order to avail of the free phone replacement in the event of an accident, HTC One M9 owners can simply get in touch with the HTC Care team who shall make the arrangements to deliver the replacement phone within 24 hours.
According to a recent Google Insights survey on people who have had the unfortunate experience of getting their phones damaged, 69% of them said that the damage had occurred within the first 12 months of their handset ownership, which makes the HTC UH OH Protection quite fitting. HTC has yet to make an announcement whether the UH OH Protection will also be adapted in other countries.
