The HTC One M9, the 2015 flagship smartphone of the Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC, was overly criticized last year for the less-than-satisfactory improvements it made over its predecessor, the HTC One M8.
It was no different from what Samsung got from users and consumers when it released in 2014 the Galaxy S5 offering very little improvements from the Galaxy S4, resulting to three consecutive months of falling revenues for the Korean tech giant.
As much as Samsung has learned its lesson from its biggest undoing in recent years with the Galaxy S5, HTC has also picked up a neat lesson in the art of proper smartphone development.
Apparently, HTC is now stepping up its game several notches higher and its efforts will eventually come to fruition with the likely launching of its 2016 flagship smartphone, the HTC One M10.
Reports have it that HTC may launch the One M10 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 to be held later this month in Barcelona, Spain but there are also speculations that the Taiwanese handset maker may opt to have a launching event for the HTC One M10 towards the latter part of this year.
Going back to the features of the One M8
Since the HTC One M8 was a technical marvel and certainly more popular to users compared to the HTC One M9, the Taiwanese tech giant has decided to go back to the features of its 2014 flagship smartphone.
One of the features that could make its way back to the HTC One M10, which was ditched by the HTC One M9 last year, is the use of the UltraPixel camera.
The 2016 flagship smartphone of HTC could sport a 12-UltraPixel shooter with laser-assisted autofocus alongside optical image stabilization, notes Tech Times.
Reports also have it that the 5.1-inch HTC One M10 will feature a 1,440 x 2,560 QHD display, which is likely to be an AMOLED variety.
Seeking redemption
Following a disappointing year in business for HTC with the release of the HTC One M9 last year, the Taiwanese smartphone maker is determined to win back its market share with the release this year of the HTC One M10, details the International Business Times of UK.
The company has just made a major foray into the virtual reality (VR) segment with the recent launching of the HTC Vive VR, but it has also set its sight on redeeming itself in the all-too-crucial smartphone segment of its overall business market.
According to some critics, the HTC One M10 could actually look very similar to the HTC One A9 released late last year. The HTC One A9 was actually accused of being a copy of the iPhone 6S, so it is possible that the HTC One M10 could resemble the design of the latest iPhone from Apple.
There are also reports that the 2016 flagship smartphone of the Taiwanese tech company would come pre-installed with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with Sense 8.0 UI on top.
According to previous reports, the HTC One M10 is currently being developed under the codename ‘Perfume,’ suggesting that there could be a change in the name altogether.
The HTC One M10 will reportedly come out packed to the brim and thus, live up to its hype of redeeming the misgivings of the HTC One M9.
It is expected that the HTC One M10 will be officially launched at the MWC 2016 but it shall hit the retail markets either in March or April to enable its predecessor to complete its customary one-year market cycle.
Accordingly, the HTC One M10 shall be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and shall have a generous 4GB of RAM and shall also come with 32GB of internal storage with an option to expand up to 200GB via the microSD card slot.
Nothing wrong with the A9 but using it for flagship material is questionable to say the least. Using it as a base to start from is fine but it will need to step up from the original A9 design wise or I guarantee the M10 will go the same way as the M9.
Consumers aren’t about just the upgrades anymore. Design, looks, the x-factor of a handset are equally important now.
I don’t see a problem with the M8’s UltraPixel except HTC just seems to do the processing of the image not good enough.
