HTC has marked October 20 as its launching event for its newest Android smartphone, but it seems like photos of the device may have leaked online already and it certainly passes for an iPhone 6 sibling.
Just a little over a week before the anticipated unveiling, clear images showing the HTC phone hit the web through @OnLeaks’ Twitter account on October 10. The certain Twitter account is known for leaking upcoming gadgets.
According to The Verge, a dummy version of the phone to be modeled by AT&T was photographed from almost every angle possible and shared online.
The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer reportedly took a page from OnePlus’ book with a virtual reality event on their website set for next week wherein they will finally unveil their latest device codenamed “Aero.”
The tech firm has stated that the event will be a platform to showcase their new smartphone. HTC hasn’t discussed the features, name, or price point for the device, but it’s a huge possibility that they’re pertaining to the HTC One A9.
According to PC Mag, while the One A9 was expected to be another flagship phone along the lines of the HTC One M9 and the upcoming HTC One M10, leaked images shows that the “Aero’’ appears to be a mid-range handset.
The Twitter account did not share any specs of the phone, but if the photos are indeed legit, then the latest device from HTC is following the footsteps of Apple’s iPhone 6.
The phone, in its Carbon Gray color, takes the shape of a curved aluminum unibody design with inlaid plastic lines for the antennas, Tech Radar reports. It also includes a slot for SIM and microSD slot along the side.
HTC’s statement front-facing stereo BoomSound speakers are gone with the One A9. It has been replaced with machined holes in the bottom edge of the phone.
Based on the leaked images, a Sony logo is seen on the main camera speculating that the phone will carry a 13-megapixel Sony sensor. The rear cam also has a raised bump for protection from scratches. No information has been released yet over the front camera’s megapixel capacity.
The One A9 is speculated to be rolling with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow when it comes out which makes it a smart buy already. The device will make its debut during HTC’s press event in six different metallic hue colors: Cast Iron, Rose Gold, Carbon Gray, Deep Garnet, Opal Silver, and Acid Gold.
The device will be carrying an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor and will be supported by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage underneath a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution touchscreen. The device supports a fingerprint sensor beneath it which is a perfect place for this feature.
The One A9 is said to be packing Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology feature to bring battery capacity up to its fullest even after just charging for less than an hour.
No word about the phone’s price tag has been disclosed yet but if reports are true that the One A9 is a mid-range phone then smartphone enthusiast can expect that it would fall under the affordable category or at least a fair price for the capacity of the phone.
The Taiwan-based tech giant was once the world’s largest smartphone maker. It has been trying to catch up with leading companies Apple and Samsung since losing in the competition.
Though it hasn’t abandoned the creation of smartphones, HTC admits that it plans to expand into another arena of technology including virtual reality, Irish Examiner reports.
Reports say that HTC’s virtual reality event, as well as the release of One A9, is a kick start for HTC’s most anticipated unveiling of their newest flagship phone, the HTC One M10.
