HTC Desire 820 vs. Apple iPhone 5C: Apple’s Budget Device Takes on the Latest Device from the House of HTC!

The Apple iPhone 5C was a fresh new release from Apple with a lower price intended for a different section of the market. It came with many different colors with a downgraded hardware compared to the 5S. The HTC Desire 820 is a similar device in the same range, albeit a newer one. It comes at a lower price compared to the Apple iPhone 5C. Both of the makers have well-built devices with the iPhone having a plastic feeling in this case. Apple iPhone 5C:

The Apple iPhone 5C was a fresh new device launched last year along with the iPhone 5S. It supports a Nano-SIM and weighs a mere 132g. It has an LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. With Apple’s Retina Display, it has the perfect resolution matched with the perfect size and pixel density. It has a 4.0 inch 640 x 1136 pixels display with an optimum 326ppi pixel density. It was released with the iOS 7, which was upgraded to iOS 7.1.2 and has now received the latest update from Apple in the form of iOS 8.1.2.

We are hoping it will get to witness the 8.2 upgrade. It has a Dual-core 1.3 GHz Swift (ARM v7-based) CPU working on the optimally designed Apple A6 architecture. It includes a PowerVR SGX 543MP3 GPU with the triple-core graphics. It comes with three different internal storage variants of 8/16/32GB with no external memory card slot.

The iPhone 5C runs on 1GB of RAM. It houses an 8MP shooter with autofocus and LED flash. The other features include a 1/3.2” sensor size, 1.4 µm pixel size, touch focus and Apple’s simultaneous HD video and image recording, face/smile detection, geotagging and the usual Panorama and HDR. It records 1080p videos at 30fps. A 1.2MP secondary FaceTime camera can record 720p@30fps.

HTC Desire 820:

The HTC Desire 820 has a LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16MP colors. It has a way bigger 5.5inch screen with 720 x 1280 pixels display resolution and 267ppi pixel density. It supports multi-touch input and works on the HTC Sense UI 6.0 platform. It was released with the Android OS v4.4.2 KitKat platform. The device houses a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU with a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset.

It makes use of an Adreno 405 GPU. It comes with an internal storage capacity of 16GB with a 2 GB RAM. It has a microSD card slot for further expansion up to 128GB. A 13MP rear shooter comes with autofocus and LED flash with features like Geo-tagging, face/smile detection, image recording and Simultaneous HD recording. It can record 1080p videos at 30fps and includes an 8MP secondary camera with full-HD support.
