HTC has finally released their latest flagship smartphone and it appears very premium.
Initially called the HTC M10 following their M series, HTC has launched the phone as HTC 10. The device takes the shape and design of M9 and A9, both released last year, but the HTC 10 is complete with chamfered edges and a diamond cut polish to finish the rear casing.
The Taiwanese phone manufacturer launched the device on April 12 and boasts its best features such as 24-bit Hi-Res sound within a brand new all-metal body as well as state-of-the-art mobile photography.
The device’s speakers are of high standard quality and makes music experience so much better. Hi-Res earphones are shipping in the box too.
HTC promises that every element of HTC 10 has been designed, refined, and perfected. The smartphone’s screen is a 5.2-inch QUAD HD with a resolution of 2560 x 144.
The curve glass Gorilla Glass 4 seamlessly merges into the metal body, Irish Examiner notes.
The smartphone’s CPU speed is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad Core 64-bit up to 2.2GHz with 32GB of ROM and 4GB of RAM. The phone also has a microSD slot for memory expansion and a USB-C option for data transfer.
The 3000mAh battery can optimize the device up to a solid 2 days as the company states. It can also charge faster with HTC promising that it can bulk up 50% of battery in just 30 minutes of charging.
The device will come running with the latest operating system, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
It is equipped with a fingerprint scanner that works at the touch of a finger in 0.2 seconds, recognizing the fingerprint from almost every angle and position.
The tech giant has been very keen to show off the device’s camera. It has long been speculated that the HTC 10 will be a game-changer in mobile photography and HTC has indeed delivered.
HTC 10 is the first smartphone to place optical image stabilization feature on the front camera as well as wind-angle lens and screen flash that selfie lovers will surely love.
The Ultrapixel 2 camera in the rear is 12-megapixel, same as Samsung and Apple’s flagship devices. It is able to focus more quickly thanks to laser focus.
Nigel Newby-House, HTC’s Associate Vice President for product planning in North America says that with regards to HTC 10’s camera, they really tried to get the best of both worlds.
The smartphones’ camera also has a wider aperture on both front and rear camera which lets more light in.
The device can capture in 4K and can capture audio with video at this higher resolution which is another first in the industry.
The camera app launches in as less than 0.6 seconds which is a big step up on previous generations of the phone.
The camera has long been a weak point of previous HTC phones with the company sacrificing image quality for the price.
Reports say that with the HTC 10, it’s safe to say that they have corrected to the formula to finally strike a balance.
According to Greenfield Reporter, another interesting area HTC has spent a lot of time on the HTC 10 is the so-called reboot of Android.
The device has stripped down Google’s software thus removing all the bloatware apps as well as any repetition in apps that Android users often experience.
For example, Google Photos is already integrated into the camera app. The company says the whole idea of this is to allow the device to run smoother.
Users can also customize the home screen app so that icons don’t all have to stay in a grid. There will be stickers of different sizes to move around and create a personalized design, Android Headlines reports.
