It’s been known for a while that “Ghostbusters 3” isn’t going to be what it was planned originally, and some serious changes were made to the plot and cast along the way – and now fans of the franchise were actually given a chance to see what the new film would have looked like if they had kept the old casting and plot decisions. According to the reports, the film’s original title was “Ghostbusters: Alive Again”, and it was going to feature Ray, Egon and Winston training a new crew of Ghostbusters and giving them the spotlight.
Among the new Ghostbusters was Chris, Peter Venkman’s son. Various options were considered for the casting of the character, including Jesse Eisenberg, Charlie Day and Adam Pally. In the end though, Ivan Reitman claimed that he found it quite difficult to make the decision, and wasn’t sure on who to pick. Another character, Jeremy, was going to be played by Jonah Hill. The character was planned to be the actual leader of the new team; the female member of the crew also had several casting options being considered, including Anne Hathaway and Brie Larson.
All in all, various popular names can be seen through the list of casting options, and it seems like “Ghostbusters 3” would have been a great production even with the original script and production decisions. Of course, it’s a little too late to go back on those choices now, and fans are going to have to see how the new formula is going to work out – although, for what’s worth, the new production is shaping up to be really interesting and exciting as well.
It’s interesting to note that the names in the list included some pretty big ones, such as Zach Galifianakis, Rebel Wilson, and Aubrey Plaza. Of course, it’s not clear if all of those actors would have agreed to their proposed roles (or if their schedules would allow it in the first place), but seeing a production with all those big names in one place would definitely have been an interesting sight, regardless of the “Ghostbusters” title.
As for the current production, various new rumors have popped up on the radar recently. Among the more interesting ones, Peter Dinklage is said to be in the role of the film’s villain, something which has had many fans understandably excited. An actor with such huge potential can definitely bring a lot to the table, especially in a production like this, so many have been hopeful that the rumors are true. According to the leak, Dinklage would be in the role of a murderer who becomes a ghost after a botched execution.
