Previous reports indicate that following the blowout breakup of Frank and Claire Underwood, it was greatly speculated that the two lead characters of the series will figuratively go at each other’s throats come election time.
In fact, during an interview in June, Oscar-winning veteran actor Kevin Spacey said that he is actually wary about his character Frank Underwood when the show returns next year.
He said that Frank, as president of the United States, and as former husband to Claire Underwood, should carefully watch his step and be wary of what his ex-wife is planning against him. Spacey hinted then that Claire will be cooking up a lot of things to bring Frank down and the president should be ready for it so that he can survive the biggest onslaught on his political career.
The actor added that Frank should start looking at all the possibilities of how Claire would get back to him because he believes that the former wife could now do anything she wanted and throw anything at the president.
During the early goings of Season 3, Frank said that he was on his way out and that he was no longer going for re-election, but by the end of the season, he has changed his mind and decided to run again. Obviously, politics has a certain lure on people, notes Dobbs.
