‘House of Cards’ Season 5 to See Claire Underwood Possibly Winning the Election and Succeeding Frank, Rumors Say!

Women power will take center stage in Season 5 of the American political drama TV series “House of Cards” on Netflix based on latest rumors.

With the explosive and resilient Season 4 finale of “House of Cards” that aired on Netflix last month, viewers are now waiting with bated breaths on what will be the major storylines for the upcoming fifth season.

According to the rumor mill, Season 5 of “House of Cards” will feature women’s rise to power. It may actually see Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, winning the election and succeeding her husband Frank, played by Kevin Spacey.

The rumors are also saying that Claire will not be contented being the country’s vice president and will set her sight on the presidency, cites the Christian Daily.

It is possible that the wife and husband will go head to head in the election, which was actually the same set of rumors that came out before the Season 4 premiere of “House of Cards” last month.

Since she knows Frank and had been with him throughout the previous campaign, Claire is already familiar with the campaign strategies as well as the ins and outs of politics. She is likely to use the same tactical skills to ensure her victory.

Big in other countries

Meanwhile, actor Kevin Spacey was surprised how big “House of Cards” has become outside of the US during a recent overseas promotional trip for the TV series.

He was so impressed with the international turnout of viewership on the Netflix’s political drama. The actor said that “House of Cards” seems to cross borders that it has become so big in so many countries.

Spacey said that he does not think that it is only because people are fascinated with US politics but because viewers are interested in the politics of life which are all over the world.

He also shared an anecdote that he once did a film in China some years back and he walked down the street with its star Daniel Wu, who is a huge star in the country, comparing him to Tom Cruise.

The actor said that everybody thought that Daniel Wu was with his bodyguard or something, that elicited hearty laughs from his interviewer.

Showrunner decides to move on

In a sad news for the show and its fans, showrunner Beau Willimon has decided to step down after the Season 4 of “House of Cards.”

Willimon has been responsible for the first four successful seasons of “House of Cards,” so it came as a surprise to many fans of the show that the showrunner has decided to exit the show before its Season 5 premiere in March next year, notes the Ecumenical News.

The executive producer has already issued a statement regarding his departure from the hit Netflix series.

Willimon said that he is grateful to Netflix and his fellow executive producers as well as to the two incandescent stars of “House of Cards” in Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, the show’s talented writers, and the incredible cast and crew with whom he had the privilege to work with.

He added that after five years and four seasons, it was time for him to move on to new endeavors but he is supremely proud of what they have built together.

House of Cards Season 3

Willimon also said that he wishes the show continued success while very happy and confident that he is leaving “House of Cards” in capable hands.

Meanwhile, the full 13 episodes of Season 4 of “House of Cards” became available on Netflix on March 4 and based on critics’ review, it is the best for the show since the premiere season four years ago.

The fourth season of the show helped bring the Underwood saga full circle as it helped clarify the series as a whole.
