House of Cards Season 5 to Possibly See Doug Stamper Ditching His Long Ties with Frank Underwood to Fulfill his Selfishness

Season 5 of the American political drama TV series “House of Cards” will air on Netflix in March next year and most of the rumors going around about the popular show are its possible plotlines to be highlighted by the death of US President Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey.

Apparently, the upcoming fifth season of “House of Cards” will mark the era of Frank’s downfall. There were previous reports saying that Frank would die because of a disease which was already shown during the fourth season.

However, for story purposes, Frank dying because of natural cause would have very little impact on the plotline than say, the US President being murdered by his closest ally, reports Mstars News.

Getting rid of Frank

Reports have it that it would be Doug Stamper, played by Michael Kelly, who will be Frank’s killer as Doug would fall victim to love, reportedly to be used by Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, to get rid of the President so that she can take over afterward

According to the same reports, Doug Stamper shall set aside the strong bond between him and Frank Underwood to end his boss’ supremacy.

There are also some critics pointing out that it is very much possible that Doug Stamper shall ditch his long ties with Frank and will become the latter’s murderer.

In a recent interview, actor Michael Kelly said that Frank and Doug are two men who firmly trust each other up to the ends of the earth. They are the only two people who could really count on each other, he added.

Suffering humiliation of defeat

Michael Kelly had a mouthful to say during a recent interview with regards to the possible plotline of the fifth season of the hit show.

Kelly recalled that immediately after Season 3, he and former showrunner Beau Willimon talked about the future of “House of Cards.”

Willimon told Kelly that there are two ways that the show could proceed. Either the fans could see the tandem of Frank Underwood and Doug Stamper rampage their way to success or see them both fall into hard times after achieving success, details the International Business Times.

Back then, Willimon wanted to go into the direction where Frank and Doug would suffer the humiliation of defeat after continuously having their wicked ways.

However, Beau Willimon already left the show after the Season 4 finale so it remains to be seen if the new showrunner will follow the idea of his predecessor or come up with something entirely different.

The rumors about the plotline of Season 5 of “House of Cards” seem pretty consistent that Frank would not just be succumbing to political failure, he would actually meet his demise.

As to how it is going to happen, the rumors are saying that it could either be through illness or Doug Stamper could be the one to murder him under the directive of Vice President Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright.

The same reports are saying that Claire would have Doug in the palm of her hands because Frank’s loyal ally will be smitten with someone and the Vice President shall be using that woman to control Doug and make him do the unthinkable.

Once Frank is out of the way, Claire would become the President of the United States by virtue of succession.

Because the TV series imitates life and vice versa, even American politicians are reportedly hooked on the highly entertaining Netflix show.

house of cards

In fact, just a few weeks ago, Carly Fiorina took a swipe at Democrat presidential aspirant Hillary Clinton by comparing her to a “House of Cards” character.

Fiorina was a former GOP presidential candidate and HP CEO. She posted on her Facebook page that if Hillary Clinton was on “House of Cards,” they would turn her off because Clinton’s alleged corruption, her entitlement, and her singular focus on ambition would be too unbelievable for TV.
