Season 5 of the American political drama TV series “House of Cards” is to air on Netflix early next year but rumors about the show’s possible storylines are already spreading on the internet like wildfire, indicative of the extreme popularity of the TV series.
It has been rumored before the Season 4 premiere in March this year that Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, and his wife Carrie Underwood, played by Robin Wright, will have a major fallout leading to a failed re-election bid of Frank.
Apparently, the rumors were inaccurate as that did not happen at all. Frank managed to win and got re-elected as President of the United States in the fourth season of “House of Cards” with Claire as her vice president.
However, rumors about the plotlines of Season 5 indicate that things do not look good for Frank. According to speculations, Frank may lose the presidency because of several possibilities including his death, which is the most dreadful among the rumors.
The other rumors are saying the Frank will resign for health reasons and let his wife take over the presidency.
There are also rumors saying that Frank will be impeached because of his past misdeeds which would open up the possibility for Claire to become president, notes the Christian Daily.
And finally, there are also rumors saying that Claire would go up against her husband in the re-election and come out of it victorious because she got Frank’s number in terms of political strategies and his manipulative ways.
Women power in Season 5
All these rumors appear to have one consistent element – Claire shall become president. In fact, there are also reports confirming that the next season of “House of Cards” shall bring the women more power, reports Hall of Fame Magazine.
Netflix or any member of the cast or the production team has yet to confirm any or all of the rumors going around online regarding Season 5 of “House of Cards” so everything remains as speculation.
There are also speculations stating that with the recent departure of show creator Beau Willimon, Season 5 is going to be the last for “House of Cards.”
But based on the interview with Willimon recently, it seems that “House of Cards” would still have plenty of gas left in the tank after Season 5 and shall be renewed by Netflix for at least one more season.
Willimon said that he is supremely proud of what he and the production team have built together and wished the show much continued success. He also said that he is certainly leaving “House of Cards” in the hands of a very capable team.
Setting her sights on the presidency
With the explosive and resilient Season 4 finale of “House of Cards” that aired on Netflix last March, viewers are now waiting with bated breaths on what will be the major storylines for the upcoming fifth season.
The rumors are also saying that Claire will not be contented being the country’s vice president and will set her sight on the presidency.
It is possible that wife and husband will go head to head in the election, which was actually the same set of rumors that came out before the Season 4 premiere of “House of Cards” last March.
Since she knows Frank and had been with him throughout the previous campaign, Claire is already familiar with the campaign strategies as well as the ins and outs of politics. She is likely to use the same tactical skills and ensure her victory.
Meanwhile, actor Kevin Spacey was surprised how big “House of Cards” has become outside of the US during a recent overseas promotional trip for the TV series.
He was so impressed with the international turnout of viewership on the Netflix’s political drama. The actor said that “House of Cards” seems to cross borders that it has become so big in so many countries.
