Even Frank has been shown as surprisingly easy to hit in some cases, even though the character started out portrayed as a stone wall. The more the show progressed, the more we got to explore what really makes him tick, and the conflicts inside his head.
At the same time, his relationship with his wife didn’t progress exactly like some fans were predicting – or hoping – and she became a very unpredictable force in the whole picture. Some fans even claim that she was intended to be the center of attention all along, but the producers were intentionally focusing things on Frank in the beginning to mislead their viewers.
Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen once season 5 arrives, but we do expect the new episodes to give some hints about that. If Claire does become a more central character than Frank during the next season, this could also lend some credibility to the rumors of his death, according to some fans.
All in all, there is a lot coming up in the next season of “House of Cards”, but it’s pretty much impossible to decipher the current hints and rumors and make something sensible of them. Which is probably exactly what the showrunners are going for, as mystery and speculation have always played a major role in moving this show forward. From everything we’ve heard so far, this is probably going to become even more pronounced in the new episodes.
