Frank will not be coming up against his ex-wife alone though, as he still has his various allies by his side. These include Doug Stamper, his Chief of Staff who has been constantly loyal to Frank. That loyalty has extended a lot in recent times in the show’s timeline, so it would be interesting to see how the relationship between the two will play out.
Claire’s character might change significantly as well, as she has typically given Frank the opportunity to chase after his own goals instead of striving for power herself, something which is not going to be the case in the new season.
And that could paint her in a very different light, perhaps a more realistic one – it’s always been hinted that Claire is much stronger and determined than is immediately obvious, and we might finally get to see that side of her character playing out fully. Some have even speculated that this season could be all about her growth and character development.
