‘House of Cards’ Season 4 Promises to be More Vicious than Before; Neve Campbell Joining Cast as Series Regular

The series finale of Season 3 of the American political drama TV series “House of Cards” on Netlfix saw the blowout breakup of First Couple Frank and Claire Underwood.

Based on that premise alone, fans expect more machinations and manipulations figuratively as the two go at each other’s throats in the race for the US presidency. Frank will be vying for re-election while Claire will gear to run in the election against her former husband.

Show creator and executive producer Michael Dobbs disclosed that there will be much more wickedness in the upcoming Season 4 of “House of Cards.”

Dobbs disclosed that fans of the show will get to see some great acting and great dialogues that will surely leave them with a sense of wanting to see more of the episodes of the show. He attributes that the show has become so much compelling because of its great writers and directors.

While Dobbs did not reveal anything about the two main characters of the show – Frank and Claire Underwood – there have been more than enough reports in the internet these days on how the rift between the President and his former First Lady will play out in Season 4 of “House of Cards.”

Instead of zeroing in on the details of the “House of Cards,” Dobbs simply said that all politicians get their comeuppance at some point which already hints of how things will play out between the First Couple and each other’s desire to take the lone seat in the White House.

Movie News Guide reported that the popular TV series will be more vicious than before in terms of plotlines and characters too.

Loyal character on the way out

There are latest reports about “House of Cards” that Doug Stamper, played by Michael Kelly, a loyal ally of Frank Underwood, who returned to Season 3 after recovering from brain damage, will become a victim of the reported wickedness of Season 4, reports Venture Capital Post.

Doug rejoined Frank in the White House in Season 3 and with the parting of ways between Frank and Claire, the loyal and trusted ally would surely stand by his boss.

Asked whether his character would survive Season 4, Michael Kelly said that the series does not hesitate in killing great characters, which means that Doug’s days on the season are numbered.

Doug has had brushes with death in the past seasons of “House of Cards” so having his life on the line in Season 4 is no longer new to fans of the show. He nearly got killed in the Season 2 finale and he recovered from a brain damage in Season 3.

Neve Campbell coming in as a series regular

Meanwhile, the creators of “House of Cards” have hinted that they will be introducing a new character in the series to further spice things up.

Accordingly, Neve Campbell, who got famous for the “Scream” horror movie series, “Wild Things,” and “Party of Five,” will be joining Season 4 of “House of Cards” as a series regular.

It is not clear thus far what role she will be taking on in the series but Campbell’s addition would surely make the show even more interesting, adding more to its known viciousness from the past three seasons.

Michael Dobbs also assured fans that Season 4 of “House of Cards” will not be its last because the TV series will continue for as long as the relationship between Frank and Claire, whether they are together or apart, remains interesting. He believes that the show is anchored primarily on the relationship of Frank and Claire.
