Nicki Minaj wins her third No.1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. According to Nielsen Music, The Pinkprint stays on top of the list, selling 198,000 copies in the end-December 21 week. Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint sells the most first-week units, even since Beyonce’s self-titled album which sold 617,000 copies in December 2013.
Her previous album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded gained the top of the list crown in 2012 with a massive 253,000 copies sold in the first week. It was preceded by her debut Pink Friday album which started at No.2 with 375,000 copies sold and later peaked at No.1. The Pinkprint already has two chart topping singles featured on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
The first one was ‘Anaconda’ which had a six-week run at Number 1 followed most recently by ‘Only’ that features Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown. It also topped the list on December 27. The Pinkprint release spurred six new album tracks on the chart, being led by ‘Feeling Myself’ that features Beyoncé, ending at No.12. In the meantime, Skylar Gray’s ‘Bed of Lies’ makes a 30-19 leap, taking the Digital Honors whereas ‘All Things Go’ comes back in No.38.
Nicki Minaj debuts two star-assisted tracks on the popular Hot 100 which furthers her Hot 100 achievements on two different levels. Her ‘Get on Your Knees’ which features Ariana Grande enters in No.88. As a result, Minaj ups her count to 58 Hot 100 career hits that passes Dionne Warwick and Madonna at 56 each. Aretha Franklin leads with 73 which follow Taylor Swift at 66. Her career-best eight songs have been featured on this week’s Hot 100 (dated Jan.3).
Among the female singers, only Swift charted more titles at 11 (Nov 13, 2010). Nicki Minaj is one of the eight acts altogether, who posted at least eight songs on the Hot 100 list all at once. As a result, she joins The Beatles, who actually charted a record 14 on 1964, April 11th followed by David Cook, Drake, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Swift and the cast of Fox’s Glee. Nicki Minaj’s ‘Only’ slips from the No.12 high to No.15, being the highest-ranking song in this week.
In other news, ‘Centuries’ reaches the top 20 in Hot 100s for the first time in the 15th chart week, after rising 26-20. Earlier, it ranked higher while debuting at No.22 on 27th September. Fall Out Boy sang the song on the season finale of The Voice along with McAndrew.
Recent news indicates that ‘Centuries’ surges by 62 percent to a complete 84,000 sold copies. Matt McAndrew’s ‘Wasted Love’ holds the chart’s top debut at No.14 and ‘Lost Stars’ with Adam Levine is at No.83.
